Melancholia — The Fall of Empires.
An odyssey throught the antique and Ottoman
sites of Turkey, Lebanon and the Balkans
The lands of the former Roman and Ottoman Empires inspire in me a profound nostalgia, Seeing, feeling, touching and tasting traditions and architectures that are centuries if not millenias old speak volumes of the richness and diversity of these empires during their golden era. Abandonned ruins and desolated sites also inform on the darker hours that led to their desintegration. Turkey, Lebanon, and the Balkanic states remain today extremely mixed and diverse populations , preserving each in their own way customs and rituals that have endured the test of time.
